Happy Birthday to Chiltern Wills!

Today is the second anniversary of my setting up in business as Chiltern Wills, now Chiltern Wills LLP. It’s been such an exciting time starting from scratch, building up the business and seeing it begin to flourish, and I’ve learnt a huge amount along the way. I’d intended to have a soft start and to quietly get my structure in place before beginning any marketing activities, but within a month the pandemic came along and focused a lot of clients’ minds on making sure that their affairs are in order, so at times it’s been a whirlwind.

I’d always wanted to be self-employed and love the autonomy, flexibility and direct connection between effort and reward that it brings. Five – or even three – years ago it was just a pipe dream of mine to find a way to use my skills to do something similar to my former job in London, whilst being able to work flexibly around my family. The work is rewarding and varied, and I meet so many lovely, interesting and supportive people along the way. Since starting up, initially just offering Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney, I’ve expanded the service to include probate work and deputyship applications, have transformed from being a sole trader to an LLP and have become a virtual business.
