Murder mystery enthusiasts – I’m seeing posters everywhere at the moment recommending the first “Chiltern Kills” crime-writing festival, which is due to take place in Gerrards Cross, just 20 minutes from London Marylebone, on Saturday 7th October 2023.
What with Chiltern Kills rhyming so nicely with Chiltern Wills, and also a certain commonality of theme (not murder – Chiltern Wills doesn’t have any truck with murder!), I can’t resist drawing it to your attention. Over 70 authors will be there, including local celebrity crime writer Frederick Forsyth, Mark Billingham, Claire Mackintosh, Ruth Ware and many others. There will be book signings, interviews with authors, BBC1 and 2 TV shows on site, a “Murder a song” karaoke session and a beer tent with authors serving the beer.
It’s for a good cause – all of the authors are appearing for free, and the profits will be going to youth homelessness charity, Centrepoint. Tickets are £40 and as the organiser of Chiltern Kills points out, “It would be criminal to miss it”.
